GraceKennedy closes week as top performer

The final trade day of the week concluded with a total volume of 105,460 shares crossing the floor of the stock exchange at a market value of $525,133.73.

GraceKennedy Ltd (GKC) was the volume leader, posting a volume of 62,899 shares valued at $157,701.50. National Commercial Bank Jamaica Ltd (NCBJ) followed contributing 25,400 shares with a value of $24,873.00. BCB Holdings Ltd (BCBTT) ended with a total volume of 5,000 shares valued at $65,800.00, while 3,500 shares of The West Indian Tobacco Co Ltd (WCO) changed hands for a value of $110,250.00. Other significant performers included Sagicor Financial Corporation (SFC) and Trinidad Cement Ltd (TCL), which added 3,333 shares and 2,970 shares valued at $39,971.00 and $10,399.99, respectively.

Guardian Holdings Ltd (GHL) recorded the largest volume of the week as 91,149 shares were traded for a value of $1.16 million. Weekly volume stood at 402,935 shares with a corresponding value of $3.59 million. Declines led advances 3:1 as Neal & Massy Holdings Ltd (NML) slipped $0.06 to $48.94. CBJ and SFC fell $0.01 each to $0.98 and $11.99 respectively. Conversely, The West Indian Tobacco Company Ltd (WCO) gained $0.40 to end at $31.50, which was also the greatest price increase for the week. On the contrary, GHL’s decline of $0.98 to $12.50 was the largest decline for the week. The Mutual Fund Market was active on Friday as Savinvest India Asia Fund (SIAF) recorded a volume of 1,000 shares being traded valued at $62,000.00. SIAF fell $6.88 to $62.00 while prices remained unchanged at $5.11 for Caribbean Property Fund (CPF) and $3.46 for Praetorian Property Mutual Fund (PPMF). Weekly volume was 1,127 shares with a value of $62,439.42.

The Second Tier Market remained inactive with FNCU-Venture Capital Co Ltd (FNCU) and Mora Ven Holdings Ltd (MOV) standing firm at $1.00 and $13.50, respectively. Friday’s activity on the Bond Market generated a total volume of 8,000 valued at $8.03 million. Weekly volume was 13,000 valued at $13.24 million. The Composite Index remained unchanged at 785.05, losing 2.69 points for the week. The All T&T Index gained 0.63 points to close at 1,109.24, having fallen 3.78 points over the past week. The Cross Listed Index slipped 0.07 points to 57.31, recording a weekly decrease of 0.20 points.
